New Shoes

I’ve recently bought two pairs of suede monkstraps.
A pair of KG by Kurt Geiger Cadfael tan double monkstraps, pictured above and below.

As well as a pair of Fly London Cosh sand single buckle monks.

I had to buy them online because I just could find them anywhere and I haven’t had the opportunity of visiting London recently. But the surprise came when I received the shoes. They were both made in Portugal.

My question is: why can’t I buy these products in Portugal? Especially since Fly London is a Portuguese brand.

You would say that it’s all a marketing and branding thing. I agree, but it’s also a goddamn ridiculous thing.

How can you launch and project Portuguese fashion/design if you don’t start with your home market? Look at all the major Italian and Spanish brands. They started at home first and then proceeded to take over the fashion world.
By the way, the shoes are great. Beautiful and very confortable.

Something for... the Sophisticated Ladies

The new Miu Miu tweed jacket

Brown and cream tweed double-breasted cropped jacket with concealed snap closures on front. Jacket also has a cutaway collar with a snap fastening neck tab, full sleeves, faux flap pockets and is fully lined.

I saw it in RDuJour

Feeling like...

Today I'm feeling a bit like Brian Jones...

...with some Charlie Watts thrown into the mix, whatever the hell that means!?!

It's not the pinstipre suit and suede monks. It's something else...!

The Beatles Rockband Ads

Following the last post about The Beatles I had to share these commercial clips for the new videogame "The Beatles Rockband".

Beatlemania

The recent reissue of “The Beatles” complete discography, remastered and revamped, caused a little bit of frenzy amongst the fans and general music lovers.

Because “The Beatles” are very dear to me (maybe my all-time favorite band, up there with Brian Wilson’s “The Beach Boys”), it is time to present my own selection of Beatles favorites: albums, tracks and members.

Here are my choices:

Top 5 albums:

1.       The White Album

2.       Rubber Soul

3.       A Hard Day’s Night

4.       Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band

5.       Revolver

Top 10 tracks: (this is a difficult one!)

1.       In my life (from “Rubber Soul”)

2.       The long and winding road (from “Let it Be”)

3.       I am the walrus (from “Magical Mystery Tour”)

4.       A day in the life (from “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”)

5.       Here comes the sun (from “Abbey Road”)

8.       Got to get into my life (from “Revolver”)

9.       I should have known better (from “A Hard Day’s Night”)

10.   Blackbird (from “The White Album”)

Favorite “Beatle”:

1.       John Lennon

2.       Ringo Starr

3.       Stuart Sutcliffe (the 5th “Beatle”)

4.       George Harrison

5.       Paul McCartney

Fall 2009 for Real Women

This blog is mostly focused on menswear. Nevertheless, women are a very important part of the blog. They’re a constant inspiration, so it’s only fair that I start paying more attention to womenswear.
Making up for the lost time, here are some Fall propositions (courtesy of The Sartorialist):
